(July 5, 2018) Two of three Berlin Town Council incumbents have filed while one, At Large Councilman Thom Gulyas, “expects to file very shortly” to seek a second term, he said.
Administrative Services Director Mary Bohlen said District 1 Councilman Dean Burrell and District 4 Councilman Troy Purnell have already filed.
No other candidates have filed as of press time.
The filing deadline is Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. and the write-in candidate filing deadline is Sept. 25. Write-in candidates will not appear on the ballot.
The voter registration deadline is Aug. 31. Register to vote online at www.vote.org.
Absentee voting applications will be accepted starting on Sept. 4. They must be received by mail no later than Sept. 25, or in person by Sept. 28.
The Berlin Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 2, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Districts 1 and 2 vote at Buckingham Presbyterian Church on 20 South Main Street, and Districts 3 and 4 vote at the multipurpose building on Flower Street.
