OCEAN PINES–
The Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce’s
6th annual Flounder Fishing Tournament on Aug. 3 is a relaxing, fun contest
where participants can fish from the shore, pier, private boat, flounder party
boats or charter boats, really anywhere in Maryland Coastal waters between 7
a.m. and 3 p.m.
The tournament excludes the Chesapeake Bay.
Fish must be caught within three nautical miles of shore and inland waters to
the Delaware and Virginia state lines.
Entrants can bring in legal sized flounder,
17 inches or larger (up to three fish per angler). Weigh-ins will take place at
Pines Point Marina from 1-4 p.m. at 869 Yacht Club Drive.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the largest
flounder caught. First-place winner will receive $500 and a trophy.
The person who lands the second largest
flounder will win $300, and the angler who reels in the third largest flounder
will be awarded $100. Additional prizes may be awarded for fourth place and
beyond.
There are also calcutta contests which cost
$10 to enter. Cash prizes for the first through third largest flounder caught
for those who enter.
The first 150 entries also receive a
free T-shirt, which will also be available for purchase at the OP Chamber
office on Cathell Road or at the weigh-in the day of the tournament for $10.
Awards will be presented at 4:30 p.m. Entry

per person with discount for multiple fishermen.
