OCEAN PINES—County Commissioner Judy Boggs has
announced that her next Town Meeting will be Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at
the Ocean Pines Library.
A guest speaker at this Town Meeting will talk
about the "Obamacare" Insurance Plans that the public will be making
personal decisions on starting Oct. 1. The Worcester County Health Department,
under the leadership of Health Officer Debbie Goeller, has been designated by
the State as the official "connector" for the Lower Shore Counties
for the "Obamacare" health plans.
Program Coordinator Katherine Gunby, of the health
department, will be on hand to explain who will be affected by this new
insurance and how to begin the process in basic, easy-to-understand terms. Handouts
will be available to take home with additional information that might not be
covered in her presentation.
Other guests include local Attorney Michael
Mathers, who specializes in wills, trusts and estate planning; and developer
Palmer Gillis, who will discuss his plans for a medical building soon to be
built on his commercial property on Route 589 near Ocean Pines’ North Gate.
A variety of other topics to be discussed by
Boggs include new businesses that have located in the area during the summer
and other development being considered for the near future.
The Town Meeting begins promptly at 10 a.m., though
early arrival is recommended as seating and parking at the library are limited.
