Anita C. Roberts

Anita C. Roberts
Ocean Pines

Anita Claire Roberts, age 74, passed away on June 12, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on September 7, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Joe Miller and Claire (Mensinger) Miller.

Anita grew up in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and never lost her love for the place she called home. She cherished memories of summers at the Jersey Shore with her family and remained closely connected to a special group of lifelong friends affectionately known as her “Jersey Girls.”

She attended Salisbury State College, graduating in 1974 with a degree in education, where she met Russ, the love of her life and husband of 51 years. Anita went on to dedicate 31 years to teaching in Anne Arundel County.  She cared deeply about her students and took great pride in a career spent helping young people learn and grow.

After retiring from teaching, Russ and Anita relocated to Ocean Pines, Maryland, where they built a wonderful community of friends filled with laughter, fun and lasting memories. Anita loved the beach, gardening, flowers and special lunches at the inlet in Ocean City, where she and Russ enjoyed watching the tide roll away.

Above all, Anita adored her family—her husband, Russ; her only son, Chad; and her grandsons, Carter and Landon. Anyone who knew Anita knew how fiercely she loved “her boys.” She was incredibly proud of Chad and the life he built — his career, his family and his home.

She cherished every opportunity to be part of Carter and Landon’s lives, whether attending concerts and sporting events, taking trips to the zoo, the beach and museums, or baking pies together. Her love for her grandsons was boundless, and they brought her immeasurable joy.

She was a devoted member of P.E.O., Chapter AK, a sisterhood committed to celebrating, supporting and motivating women.  She was a member of P.E.O. for 41 years.  She was proud of her work with the organization and of the meaningful friendships she built there.

She was also a member of the Ocean Pines Garden Club and created a book club for friends in Ocean Pines. Anita treasured her many friendships and especially enjoyed Friday walks, bagels and time with her beloved “OP Posse.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Paul Miller.

She is survived by her beloved husband – George Roberts; her son – Chad Roberts (Jessica); her grandchildren – Carter and Landon Roberts and her adored labrador retriever, Creek.

Cremation followed her passing. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, Maryland. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life immediately afterward at Lighthouse Sound Restaurant in Bishopville, Maryland.

In honor of Anita’s vibrant spirit and love of life, the family invites guests to wear bright colors or cheerful patterns. Beach or resort casual attire is warmly welcomed in place of traditional funeral attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to P.E.O. Chapter AK, c/o Barbara Ferger, Treasurer, 5 Oxford Court, Ocean Pines, MD 21811.

Letters of condolence may be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of The Burbage Funeral Home – Berlin, MD.
