Alex Fraschetti, 84, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2026 in Encinitas, California, surrounded by his family.

Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Alex came to the United States in his twenties and went on to spend nearly 60 years in Ocean City, Maryland, where he raised his family and became a beloved presence in the community.

Alex built his career as a restauranteur, bringing his warmth, energy, and unmistakable charisma to everyone he met. He was known for his generous spirit, his love of life, and most of all, his unforgettable smile. He brought that same joy to the dining table, where he was renowned for his tableside specialties, including his famous Caesar Salad, Steak Diane, and Lobster Chantilly. For Alex, food was never simply a meal; it was something to be savored, discussed, enjoyed, and most importantly, shared.

A lifelong lover of sports, Alex was once a member of the Italian Olympic swim team. Throughout his life he continued to enjoy tennis, racquetball, pickleball, and golf. Staying active was one of his favorite pastimes, and his enthusiasm and competitive spirit were evident in everything he did. In fact, he expressed a desire to play pickleball the week before his passing.

Alex lived with style, pride, and integrity. Always impeccably dressed and carrying himself with confidence and grace, he was proud of who he was, his Roman roots, and above all, his family. His life was filled with family across three continents, lifelong friendships, community, and a love for animals both wild and domestic. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Coralee. Together, they shared two children: Cristina and Alessandro, (his wife, Natalie, and their three children, Luciano, Indah, and Paxton). He is also survived by his son, Roberto  (wife Ivette, and their son, Giorgio, and Roberto’s two daughters, Macarena and Daniela, all of whom reside in Chile) and his daughter, Yvonne (daughter, Alissa, who reside in Rome).

Alex was one of five children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Giorgio and Alberto, and is survived by his brother, Luciano, and sister, Patrizia, of Rome.

 A celebration of Alex’s life is being planned for later this year in Ocean City.
