(April 6, 2017) The Ocean Pines Association is hoping to increase the public’s awareness of emergencies through the use of its new “PinesAlerts” notification system, which is being powered by the Delmarva Broadcasting Company.
“We were looking for an effective way to easily disseminate important information to the residents and guests of Ocean Pines,” Denise Sawyer, director of marketing and public relations, said.
The notifications will include alerts for road and traffic closures, power outages, severe weather, and other public-safety events. The Ocean Pines Police Department will utilize the PinesAlerts text message-based system to warn residents of crime alerts.
To sign up, Ocean Pines residents and guests can text the word “PINES” to 88474. Signup is free.
Standard text message and data charges may apply. Subscribers will not be overloaded with text messages, the association said.
