All Children’s Chorus to join Berlin’s 2nd Friday festivities

(July 13, 2017) The All Children’s Chorus of Annapolis will perform in front of the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin as part of the monthly 2nd Friday art stroll this week.
Worcester County Arts Council Executive Director Anna Mullis said the group is in the middle of a weeklong tour of the Eastern Shore, dubbed “Sand, Sun and Singing.”
“They are visiting several towns, including Berlin,” she said. “I believe 15-20 children will be performing in front of the Atlantic Hotel at around 6 p.m. [on Friday]. We are very excited for it.”
The group will also perform at the Ocean Pines Farmer’s Market at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Also on Friday, the arts council will host an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. for a new juried art exhibition. Work from the show is up now and will remain on display through the end of the month.
“We have 17 artists who submitted work for the juried show and the theme this month is ‘Between Water and Sky,’” Mullis said. “We have a variety of work submitted by local and regional artists, including a couple of three-dimensional pieces.”
She said painter and Washington, D.C. native Kevin Fitzgerald would judge the show. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Friday.
“The public is invited to come, if anybody would like to come and listen to the judge’s comments and remarks and his perspective on the subject,” Mullis said. “Everybody is welcome here.”
Registration is open for the annual Paint Berlin plein air competition, Sept. 20-23. Mullis said more than 25 artists have already registered.
Berlin resident Kirk McBride will judge 2017 Paint Berlin and a “Wet Paint” sale and exhibition is planned for Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The first-place award is $1,000, second place is $500, third place is $250, and $100 will be given to artists who earn honorable mention, artist’s choice or legislator’s choice awards.
Registration for Paint Berlin is $40 and the deadline is Aug. 31. Artists must be 18 or old and registration is limited to 50 artists.
