Marian Cropper Lankford, age 85, died Monday, May 9 at her home in Berlin. A lifetime resident of Ocean City, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Quillen Cropper and Laura Edith Colby Cropper. She was preceded in death by her husband, retired Ocean City Fire Marshal, Dave Lankford, in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon L. Hibbard and her husband, retired Col. Ronald D. Hibbard, three grandchildren, Angela M. Hartley, Mary E. Kato and her husband Bill and Lt. Ronald D. Hibbard, Jr. and his wife Heather, and three great-grandchildren; Allyson S. Hibbard, Kyle L. Kato, and Madelyn S. Hibbard. Also surviving are brothers, James Cropper and Thomas J. Cropper and his wife Patricia. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Clendaniel.
Lankford had been the owner/operator of the Ocean Heritage Apartments in Ocean City, and was a member of the Atlantic United Methodist Church in Ocean City. She and her husband Dave were active in the American Heart Association for many years.
A private service will be held. Rev. Olin Shockley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company, 1409 Philadelphia Ave., Ocean City, MD 21842 Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
