(March 22, 2018) The Berlin Lioness Club distributed checks to 12 local organizations, totaling $3,950, on Monday evening at Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services’ office in Berlin.
“The money donated goes back into the community to help local families in need,” said Berlin Lioness Club President Elaine Anderson. “We give out a scholarship to a student in need and have four or five fundraisers a year, working as a team to make it a success.”
Berlin and Ocean City libraries, Worcester County Developmental Center, Diakonia, Worcester G.O.L.D, Spirt Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Ocean Pines and Berlin fire departments, Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House by the Sea, Coastal Hospice and Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services received money from the Berlin Lioness Club.
“We can’t do what we do without you,” said Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services Executive Director Steven Taylor.
Representatives from the local nonprofits thanked those in attendance for their donations and generosity.
“I know how hard it is to raise money,” said Wayne Littleton, coordinator for the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Respite Housing Program. “We live off the generosity of our community and you all are so important.”
The Berlin Lioness Club meets the third Monday of every month at the Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services’ office on Main Street in Berlin at 7 p.m.
