BERLIN– More middle-income families are living paycheck to paycheck, according to Worcester Youth and Family Counseling, and any significant expense can put them in debt with little ability to repay.
The local service added that it is a common misconception that the homeless population is in decline and that anywhere from 600,000 to 1.1 million people are homeless in the United States at any given time.
Worcester Youth and Family Counseling and 15 other agencies in the county are working to collect donations for Homeless Resource Days. These days provide homeless people or people at risk of homelessness time to meet with groups that provide services such as housing, counseling, healthcare treatment, and products not typically provided at food pantries.
Items currently begin collected include hygiene and toiletry products, wipes/wet ones, diapers and water bottles.
Take items to Worcester Youth and Family Counseling, 124 N. Main Street, Suite C, in Berlin or contact Maria Cusimano with any questions, at 410-641-4598.
