(March 22, 2018) The annual Snow Hill Easter Egg Hunt will return on Saturday, with 3,000 candy-filled eggs in play and separate hunting areas planned for three different age groups.

The free event, sponsored by The Town of Snow Hill, Burbage Funeral Home and the Ocean City/Berlin Optimist Club, will start at 10:30 a.m. in Sturgis Park, downtown.

Co-organizer Trish Goodsell, assistant to the town manager, said the Easter egg hunt started in 2015.

The only thing new this year, she said, were the staggered start times for each group.

“Peeps,” ages 1-3, will start the hunt at 10:30 a.m. “Lambs,” ages 4-6, can hunt at 10:45 a.m. and “bunnies,” ages 7-10, will start at 11 a.m. Golden eggs found during the event can be exchanged for prizes.

Goodsell said Burbage Funeral Homes previously hosted a separate Easter egg hunt for children, but this year decided to instead co-sponsor the town event.

Also on Saturday, a special scavenger hunt, compared to a “Where’s Waldo” search, is scheduled at the Julia A. Purnell Museum on 208 West Market Street from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“As soon as the Easter egg hunt finishes, we encourage everybody to go down to the Purnell Museum,” Goodsell said. “They are going to have a scavenger hunt and prizes there, throughout the museum, with their staff.”

A rain date for the Snow Hill Easter Egg Hunt was set for March 31.

“We really want to encourage parents and kids to come out and enjoy a fun morning on the river,” Goodsell said. “We like to focus on the youth in our community, and this is another opportunity for them to have a really fun event and to start off the Easter season in a positive way.”
