Berlin announces new administrative assistant, Jensen

(Aug. 4, 2016) Last week the Town of Berlin announced its newest hire, 27-year-old administrative assistant Kelsey Jensen.
A Calvert County native, Jensen moved to the area six years ago and worked as the assistant to the court administrator at the Circuit Court in Snow Hill for the last four years.
Jensen said she learned about the job through the town’s website, which she had been monitoring regularly.
“It’s a great little town and I always kind of kept my eye open to see if anything opened up there, and finally something had,” she said. “We go to a lot of the town events, from the Peach Festival to the Christmas tree lighting and the parades, so I’m pretty familiar with Berlin. I like all of the little shops, and I’ve definitely spent some time there.”
About a month ago, Jensen said she received confirmation that she got the job. Her first day will be Aug. 8.
Although she admitted she is nervous to start a new job, Jensen said she has already received a warm welcome from members of town staff.
“Everyone there has been very nice to work with, I think it will be a good opportunity for me,” she said. “I’m looking forward it.
“I think the town itself has done really well, and they really seem to be moving with the times. They’ve obviously succeeded with the ‘Coolest Small Town in America’ [honor], and it sounds like they’ve got some great ideas with making the town a better place for everyone to live and to visit. They’re very progressive, and I think that’s a good thing,” she added.
Jensen lives in Ocean Pines with her husband, John.
Her former boss, Court Administrator Michael Howard, said she would be “sorely missed” in Snow Hill.
“We are very happy for Kelsey getting her new job with the town of Berlin,” he said. “Her work ethic and smiling face set an example for every employee at the circuit court.”
“Berlin is getting a gem, and she is able to do anything – anything,” Howard added. “The sky is the limit. Whatever she decides in her heart she wants to do, it’s going to happen.”
