(Feb. 24, 2022) A Berlin man died early Tuesday morning after the electric scooter he was riding on Route 50 was struck from behind by a car.
Maryland State Police said troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to reports of a vehicle collision near Route 50 and Riddle Lane just after midnight on Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation found Samuel Cornish of Berlin was riding a scooter with no lights in one of the highway’s two westbound lanes.
Police said a Dodge Charger that was traveling in the same lane struck the scooter from behind and Cornish died on the scene.
When asked on Tuesday morning for additional information on the matter, police said the investigation is still in its early stages and the reconstruction of the accident has not been conducted. They added that no criminal charges were not pending.
State Police investigators are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact the Berlin Barrack at 410-641-3259.
