Berlin officials to ‘walk’ with citizens during new program

(Sept. 10, 2015) The Town of Berlin is initiating a series of walks with elected officials as a follow up to the strategic plan adopted earlier this year.
“We heard the community interest in increased recreation facilities and activities. These walks are one of the ways we’re responding to that concern,” said Mayor Gee Williams. “As a Healthy Eating Active Living community we’re looking for new ways to connect healthy activities with the way we do business.”
“The walks are an opportunity for our community members to get a little exercise and share their thoughts about what’s going well and what we can do a bit better directly with their district council member and myself,” said Town Administrator Laura Allen.
Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
The walk schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, Sept. 16: Lisa Hall, District 2, starting at Buckingham Elementary, 100 Buckingham Rd., at 7 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5: Dean Burrell, District 4, starting at 7:15 p.m. at Henry Park, Flower Street
Wednesday, Oct. 7, Troy Purnell, District 1, starting at the Berlin Fire Company, 214 North Main Street at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 20, Elroy Brittingham, District 3, starting at the Multi-purpose building, 130 Flower Street at 6:30 p.m.
