(June 30, 2016) Berlin and Booth & Associates, the town’s electric utility consultants since 2008, have reached an agreement regarding an issue last year that increased electric expenses related to peak shaving operations, Mayor Gee Williams announced.
Booth has been assisting the town in determining when to generate to reduce demand-related power costs since 2009, resulting in approximately $3.9 million in savings.
According to the agreement reached between Booth & Associates and the town, Booth will provide a 25 percent discount to the town for engineering and financial services for a period of 18 months. In addition, they are not charging the town for work needed to explain the issue to the public service commission.
