Bishop Johnson to preach at Berlin church

(March 31, 2016) Bishop Peggy Johnson, bishop of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of The United Methodist Church, will preach at Bethany United Methodist Church in Berlin, on Sunday, April 3, during the 10 a.m. worship service.
Bethany Church is located at 8648 Stephen Decatur Highway, at the intersection of Snug Harbor Rd. and Route 611.
The service will focus on “Holy Humor,” because Jesus through his resurrection has the last laugh over sin and death. Bishop Johnson’s message is based on John 20:19-32, entitled “Eyes Myself” (a phrase well known to the deaf community). She will also perform in sign language “The Lord’s Prayer” during the service.
Bishop Johnson is a native of Baltimore and serves as the episcopal leader of the Philadelphia Area of The United Methodist Church, which includes the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference and the Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference.
Bishop Johnson has a particular passion for ministry with people with disabilities. For 20 years she was the pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church of the Deaf in Baltimore. Her years as the pastor of this all-deaf congregation led her on paths of experience with not only the deaf and deaf-blind communities, but also with those who have mobility, intellectual and mental health challenges. All are invited to attend this special service. For more information, call 410-641-2186.
