OCEAN PINES–The Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a three-day Maryland Basic Boating Safety course, April 8-10, 6- 9 p.m. at the Ocean Pines Library.
Participants can learn about local Ocean City waters and safely navigating and piloting them as well as how to tie nautical knots.
Students will receive boating knowledge and advice from Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors.
Course discussions will include piloting, knots, boat terms, trailering, maintenance, boating safely and legal requirements.
This course meets the requirements of the Maryland Boating Safety Education Act that requires anyone born after July 1, 1972 to possess a Maryland Basic Boating Safety Certificate to operate a boat in the state. Those attending and passing the course will receive a Maryland Boating Certificate.
The cost is $15 and includes all course materials.
