Courtney Gum-Layton, LGSW, has been promoted to Medical Social Services resource coordinator and will supervise the staff of social workers at the nonprofit agency.
On Coastal Hospice care teams, social workers provide emotional and social support to patients and those caring for them – in patient homes and at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Social workers also locate community resources that may be beneficial to patients and their families, such as Life Line, Meals on Wheels, VA benefits and advanced directives.
Gum-Layton, received her BSW and MSW from Salisbury University before joining Coastal Hospice as a social worker in 2014. She said she chose social work “to help people find their voice and to advocate for people who can’t speak for themselves.”
Founded in 1980, Coastal Hospice is a nonprofit health care organization that cares for individuals facing life-limiting conditions but who want to remain as active and engaged as possible. Coastal Hospice cares for patients in their home, nursing home, assisted living facility or at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. The organization serves Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester and Somerset counties.
Dufrene promoted
Raymond M. Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company, has announced that Aaron Dufrene has been promoted to electronic services representative. 
Dufrene began his employment with Taylor Bank in May of 2016 as a seasonal customer service associate at the bank’s 20th Street office in Ocean City. He will complete his Bachelor of Arts in Communications this year.
Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company, the bank subsidiary of Calvin B. Taylor Bankshares, Inc. founded in 1890, offers a wide range of loan, deposit and ancillary banking services through 10 offices located in Worcester County, Maryland and lower Sussex County, Delaware.
Craven joins firm
Montgomery Financial Services LLC, a Registered Investment Advisory Firm registered in Maryland and Delaware, welcomes Nicholas C. Craven to the firm as an associate wealth advisor.
Craven is a licensed insurance agent in Maryland. Additionally, he has passed the Uniform Investment Advisor Law Examination: Series 65, and is licensed with Maryland and Delaware as an investment adviser representative.
He graduated in 2016 from Bucknell University, where he studied Economics and History. While attending, he was a member of the Bucknell football team (defensive tackle).
Hall joins ASC&D

Hall is a licensed agent specializing in employee healthcare benefits and executive benefits planning.
He received his B.S. degree from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. He has several years of external relations and management expertise from his time as a public affairs officer for the United States Coast Guard.
He enjoys surfing, reading, playing guitar, camping and spending time with his family and friends.

Barrett web consultant
Local website and graphic design studio Sprout Creatives announces Stephen G. Barrett has been hired as their regional web consultant.
His superior customer service skills will help business owners who are serious about increasing their revenue through responsive web design, professional branding and Internet marketing services.
Barrett is a Stephen Decatur High School graduate who attended Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. After leaving college, he worked in the food industry for a few years before going to work at Barrett Chevrolet, where he become vice president.
He lives in Berlin with his wife, Dawn, and two children, Lauren and Wil. Barrett went to high school with Sprout Creatives CEO/Founder, Paul Starkey, and Vincent Gisriel III, president of Sprout Group Inc.

Sample casino GM
Old Bay Gaming & Racing, LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Churchill Downs Incorporated and Saratoga Casino Holdings, LLC, announced veteran gaming executive Bobbi Sample as general manager of the Casino at Ocean Downs and Ocean Downs Racetrack (Ocean Downs) in Berlin.
Sample will oversee the management team and all Ocean Downs gaming and racing operations.
Sample is a veteran operator with more than 20 years of leadership experience in the gaming and entertainment industries. She has been with Ocean Downs for seven years where she most recently served as the assistant general manager. 
The Casino at Ocean Downs, which opened in 2010, hosts 800 video lottery terminals and electronic table games. Ocean Downs Racetrack, which opened in 1949, offers live seasonal harness racing as well as a year-round simulcast facility.
