BERLIN – Charles Joseph Buckheit, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2011. He was the son of the late Joseph Buckheit and Charlotte Steger Buckheit.
Mr. Buckheit had worked as a police officer with the New York City Police Department having retired after 20 years of service. He spent 15 years in security at World Financial Center in New York City. In 1992 he moved to Berlin. He enjoyed horse racing and football and loved his family and home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; two sons, Charles Buckheit and his wife Margaret and Paul Buckheit; four grandchildren, Christopher, Peter, Lauren and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his son Michael in 1993. Also surviving is a sister, Charlotte Cahill; a brother, John Buckheit and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 31, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Ocean City.
