Delayed celebration for MD Wine Bar

BERLIN — Maryland Wine Bar, a new bar on North Main Street
that serves 65 wines exclusively from Maryland wineries, has pushed back its
grand opening celebration until the middle of September.

Though the store has been in business one month, owner
Deborah Everett was set to welcome guests to her wine bar on Saturday; however,
she postponed the event after learning there may be an opportunity to expand.

Pat Taylor, owner of Simply Shades, located directly next to
the bar, recently offered to sell her property to her new neighbor.

Everett must go before the Worcester County Department of
Liquor Control in September before expanding her business. If the expansion is
approved, the bar will have an additional lounge room filled with sofas and
relaxing seating.

Everett, whose husband, Michael, is a bartender at the wine
bar, said that after one month, revenue has already exceeded her expectations.

“We’re delighted with the local support,” said Everett.

In addition to having the option to purchase wine at the bar
and bottles to take off the property, either a wine tasting or wine pairing is
held once a month for a limited number of guests who can reserve a spot.

Maryland Wine Bar is open Monday through Saturday, from 1
p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, call 410-629-1022.
