BERLIN — Dorothy E. Franz died Feb. 19 at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was recovering from a broken hip sustained on Christmas Day.
Born to Richard and Helen Baier Klausmeyer on September 7, 1914, she was a 1932 graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School and attended Strayer Business School. She was a bookkeeper in the employ of her father at Klausmeyer Tire Company.
A homemaker and former volunteer at Mercy and St. Joseph’s Hospitals, she was a Baltimore Colts season ticket holder.
Franz had been a member of the Mt. Washington Club, the Green Spring Inn and the Country Club of Maryland. Before moving to Oak Crest in 1998 she lived for many years in Rodgers Forge where she was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Her daughter said that she didn’t watch very much television but hated to miss either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Joseph Lynch, Ocean Pines, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Mann Franz, Benicia, Calif., son-in-law, Larry Schaub, Ocean Pines, grandchildren, Gregory Schaub, Timonium, Lauren Schaub Molino, Astoria, N.Y., Darcy Lynch Garland, Englewood, Col., Jennifer Lynch, Ridgefield, Conn., and Maddie and Jacob Franz, Benicia. Calif. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
Her husband of 57 years died in 1997. Her other daughter, Mary Lee Schaub died in 1986, and her son, Paul Richard “Rick” Franz died in 2004. Services will be held at a later date.
