WORCESTER COUNTY– Election season is heating up ahead of the June 24 primary as debates, forums and fundraisers flood Worcester and Wicomico counties.
Republicans will hold a gubernatorial debate on Saturday, May 31, at Salisbury University beginning at 7 p.m. featuring all four candidates for office.
Harford County Executive David R. Craig, State Delegate Ron George, former State Cabinet Secretary Larry Hogan and former Chairman of the Charles County Republican Central Committee Charles Lollar are scheduled to appear.
The Salisbury Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Political Committee will create the questions.
“They are waiting to the last minute with intent – they want questions to be relevant,” said Joe Cluster, executive director of MDGOP.
Cluster said questions will also be solicited from the audience and through social media.
Each candidate will be permitted to make two-minute opening and closing remarks and will have two minutes to answer each question. Rebuttals of 30 seconds will be allowed as need.

The Democratic central committee – Worcester County will hold a forum on Tuesday, June 3 featuring three candidates for office. The forum will be held at the Snow Hill Library on 307 N. Washington St. from 7-9 p.m.
U.S. House of Representatives candidates John LaFerla and Bill Tilghman and District 38 incumbent Maryland State Senator Jim Mathias are scheduled to be in attendance. Mathias, who is running unopposed in the June 24 primary, will face republican Mike McDermott in the November 4 general election.
The winner of the democratic primary for the House seat will face either incumbent republican Andy Harris or businessman Jonathan Goff, Jr. in November.

Judy Davis, one of two democrats running for Maryland House of Delegates District 38C, will host a Spring Fling fundraiser at the Ocean Pines Community Center on Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $25.00 each.
Davis will run against democrat Mike Hindi in the June 24 primary. Mary Beth Carozza is running opposed for the republicans.
