(Sept. 1, 2016) The Worcester County Veteran’s Memorial at Ocean Pines will be holding its 10th annual golf tournament, Sept. 7, at the Ocean Pines Golf Club.
The format will be a Captain’s choice scramble with a noon shotgun start. Cost is $90 per golfer which includes, lunch, greens fee and practice balls. Dinner will follow at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club with a silent auction. To attend just dinner the cost is $20.
Wounded warriors, members of Support Military Golf Association and members of the Coast Guard who are currently stationed in Ocean City will also be in attendance.
This tournament supports the Educational Outreach program of the Veterans Memorial Foundation which brings every fifth grade student in the county to the memorial. Docents and members of the Stephen Decatur High School NJROTC instruct the students about the branches of the military and the sacrifices veterans made as they defended U.S. freedoms. They also learn the proper handling of the flag and its history.
