(Nov. 3, 2016) The Town of Berlin will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Berlin Police Department on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m.
The ceremony will take place at the new facility’s site, located at 129 Decatur Street.
“The Berlin Police Department is very pleased that the construction is so close at hand for the new station, we’re looking forward to a station with the space, safety features and technological elements needed for a current public safety building,” Police Chief Arnold Downing said.
“I believe everyone associated with the Town of Berlin is very pleased to see the start of construction for our new police headquarters,” Mayor Gee Williams said. “It is a facility that has been sorely needed by our police department and wanted by so many of our town residents for about 30 years. We are confident that when the new Berlin Police Headquarters is completed next year, it will be more than worth the wait, and be a source of both community pride and evidence of our ongoing commitment to safety and security for our citizens and guests.”
