Harold V. Heidrich

Harold Victor Heidrich, age 84, passed away on July 30, 2026, in Salisbury. Born on June 18, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Victor Heidrich and Mary Elizabeth (Fitzmorris) Heidrich.

Though “Bud,” as he was known by family and friends, often enjoyed solitude, those who knew him best understood how deeply he valued meaningful relationships. His quiet nature was balanced by a genuine curiosity about others and a love of thoughtful conversation. He never sought recognition or attention, preferring instead to listen, learn, and connect in his own way. During his years as a truck driver, he cherished the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and formed many lasting friendships along the way.

Bud’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge were defining parts of who he was. An avid reader with exceptional vocabulary and a remarkable memory, he possessed a deep understanding of history and countless other subjects. He viewed himself as a steward of history, honoring the stories, craftsmanship, and traditions of the past. As an accomplished marksman and longtime member of the Roslyn Rifle and Revolver Club on Long Island, he valued the memories and friendships he formed.

His respect for history was matched by his love of the environment and the natural world. He found peace near the water, especially on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where he felt most at home. That same appreciation for nature extended to all living creatures. Bud had a special way with animals, and those who knew him smiled at the conversations he carried on with his animal companions as though they were old friends.

Music was another lifelong passion. From doo-wop to country, he shared that love with his wife and children through the many concerts they attended together.

Bud will be remembered for his quiet humility, intelligence, curiosity, and kindness. Though he often found peace in solitude, he enriched the lives of those around him through his friendships, his love of learning, and his unwavering commitment to preserving the stories and traditions he cherished.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Heidrich; his children, Kenneth Victor Heidrich (Marion) and Kathleen Heidrich; his stepchildren, John Munoz (Erica) and Susan Claire; his grandchildren, Bradford Victor Heidrich (Natalie) and Rita Heidrich; and his step grandchildren, John Munoz and Felicia Gilley.

Cremation followed his passing.  A Celebration of Life at Stevenson United Methodist Church in Berlin is planned for Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Nature Conservancy or the Maryland Food Bank. Letters of condolence may be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com.
