MILLSBORO, Del. – Helen Holland Vinyard, 89, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Baltimore, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. She was born in Abbeville, Ala., and was the daughter of the late Leslie and Irene (Solomon) Holland.
She attended Holy Trinity Cathedral near Berlin and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution – Washington Custis Chapter. She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the Christian Storehouse and the Reading Enrichment Program for Children, both in Millsboro. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and an avid Bridge player.
She is survived by three sons, George P. “Vinnie” Vinyard Jr. of Ocean Pines, Greg Vinyard of Bel Air, Curt Vinyard of Towson; a sister, Irene Alexander of Spring City, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Vinyard Sr. in 2005.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 29 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 11021 Worcester Highway, Berlin, with Father Larry Hill. Interment will be held in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, Del., at a later date.
