MELFORD, Del. — Howard Daniel Kennard, Jr., age 64, died at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. on May 23. Born in Chester, Pa., he was the son of Howard D. Kennard, Sr. and Eileen Covington Kennard. He is survived by his wife, Nellie C. Holand Kennard, a son, Howard Daniel Kennard, III and his wife Leigh Erin of Berlin, and a daughter, Beth Kennard Gebbia and her husband Robert, of N. Palm Beach FL . He was an adored grandfather of five grandchildren; Ted, Allison, Rob, Joey, and Lauren, and a great-grandson, Graham. He leaves 2 brothers, Jack and Ed Kennard, and a sister, Susan Bryant, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kennard had been a Merchant Marine, was a member of Teamster Union Local #312and retired from Keystone Foods in 2009. He was active with the Patriot Guards, and a supporter of the Ronald McDonald House. Kennard enjoyed riding his Harley Fat Boy with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11 at the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Del. A donation in his memory may be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot Way. Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
