James R. Crabill Sr.

James Ray Crabill Sr, age 84, passed away on May 25, 2026 in Berlin. Born in Brunswick, Maryland on June 20, 1941, he was the son of the late William Crabill and Evelyn (Staubs) (Crabill) Vest.
James was born in Brunswick, Maryland and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for over 20 years. He was proud to serve his country and earned the rank of Master Sergeant along with being awarded a Bronze Star for his service while stationed in Vietnam.
On August 19, 1961, Jim married Beverly Roberts in Springfield, Massachusetts. They were married for 64 years and were blessed with their three children. Following Jim’s retirement from the military, they moved to Berlin, Maryland where he accepted a position with the Worcester County Sanitary Commission and Water Works. He retired in 2003.
Jim enjoyed watching his family grow and spending time with them. He had many hobbies including wood working, counted cross stitch, fishing, reading, old movies, traveling, calling bingo, and his work with the Knights of Columbus where he held many positions. Jim was a man of strong faith and was proud to be a long time member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Maryland.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His family takes great solace in knowing that he is no longer suffering and walking in peace with his Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother – Harold Crabill; his sister in law – Carol Crabill; his sister Beverly (Becky) Hedrick; his brother in law – Robert Hedrick; and his grandchild – Victoria Crabill.
James is survived by his beloved wife – Beverly J. Crabill; his children – Donna Bogdachewskyi (Alex), James Crabill Jr. (Brenda), and Mary Smith; his sister – Barbara Whisenant (John); his grandchildren – Eric Bogdachewskyi, Todd Bogdachewskyi, Samantha Crabill (Max Nettell), Courtney Crabill (Kyle Gietzen), Alexandra Crabill, Natasha Smith, Trevor Smith, and his great grandchildren – Mia Lemp, Bella Bogdachewskyi, and Henry Gietzen.
A viewing and funeral service were held at The Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, Maryland on Wednesday June 3, 2026. A procession to Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland followed the conclusion of the service for a burial.
