Jeep Invasion event to take over fairgrounds

(May 4, 2017) Fans of the granddaddy of all 4×4 vehicles have something to look forward to, as the annual Jeep Invasion takes over the Great Pocomoke Fair this Saturday.
Karen Schreiber, with Delmarva Jeep Events, said the event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds on 2037 Broad Street.
The cost to register a Jeep is $20 per vehicle and anyone who has not pre-registered can do so that morning beginning at 9 a.m., Schreiber said. There is no charge for spectators to attend.
“They can bring it right to the gate,” she said.
Schreiber, who has helped organize the Pocomoke Jeep Invasion since 2007, thinks the mud-friendly event will draw another decent crowd.
“They had a good turnout last year,” she said. “I’m anticipating about 50 people.”
The Show ‘n Shine portion of the Jeep Invasion takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“It’s kind of like a car show,” she said.
Trophies will be presented for various categories, such as stock and modified entries. Judging will start at 12:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony beginning at 2 p.m.
Those interested in grittier action should look for an obstacle course set up with mud, rocks, hills, and even cars, which will be in operation from noon to 5 p.m.
“We set an obstacle course in the middle of the race track,” she said.
While the entertainment is free, Schreiber said there would be food and drinks available at the fair’s concession stand.
“I’m not joking, try the food,” she said. “The burgers are a highlight.”
Schreiber also offered praised for the excellent working relationship her group has established with Pocomoke City.
“The town has been more than accommodating,” she said. “I’m glad that the little fair is still little and it’s still there.”
