Judy Ashton
Berlin
Judith “Judy” Alice Ashton, age 76, born Aug. 10, 1949, a beloved member of the Berlin community and longtime owner of Ashton Gardens, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026.
Affectionately known as the “Flower Lady”, Judy touched the lives of countless people through her love of flowers, gardening, and the beauty of nature. As the owner of Ashton Gardens and its greenhouses, she devoted her life to growing plants and flowers and sharing her knowledge and passion with others.
Judy took great pride in helping make Berlin a more beautiful place, through her work planting and caring for gardens throughout the town. Among the many gardens she lovingly tended to over the years, the Memorial Garden held a special place in her heart and was her favorite. She found great joy and meaning in caring for this beautiful space, where flowers served as a lasting tribute to those remembered and welcomed all who visited. Her flowers and gardens brought color, beauty, and joy to residents and visitors alike. Her dedication to gardening, her hard work, and her love for Berlin made her a familiar and cherished presence throughout the community.
Above all, Judy treasured her family. She is survived by her daughter, JP Domenguez de Madrigal; her son, Jeremy Ashton, and his wife, Lindsay Ashton; and her beloved grandsons, Tucker Ashton and Mack Ashton; her brother, Jon Ashton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her brothers, Judd Ashton and Tim Ashton. Her family brought her great joy, and the love and memories they shared will remain forever in their hearts.
Judy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people throughout Berlin whose lives she touched. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to the Berlin Fire Department, c/o Taylor Bank, P.O. Box 5, Berlin, Md. 21811. Please note in memory of Judith Ashton.
