OCEAN PINES – Katherine Schmoll Newman, age 98, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Berlin Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard and her five sisters Thelma, Virginia, Dorothy, Grace and Hilda.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Streckfus of Ocean Pines, Priscilla and her husband Albert Beachley of Ocean City and West Melbourne, Fla. Katherine was blessed with seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many dear nieces and nephews.
Katherine was a life long resident of Arbutus. She was a supervisor for many years with the Hutzler Brothers Co. in downtown Baltimore. In her early years, Katherine performed with a dance company associated with the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Her sister, Virginia, friend Velma Kelly and Katherine were in "Okay Baltimore" at the Hippodrome Theater among other shows.

A celebration of Katherine’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by The Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
