PRINCESS ANNE — Margaret Elizabeth Berney, age 91, died Thursday, Sept. 29 at Somerset Gardens Assisted Living in Princess Anne. Born in Parkers Landing, Pa., she was preceded in death by her father, James Smiley Wightman and mother, Helen Latshaw Wightman. She was preceded in death also by her husband Samuel Sondheim Berney. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Phillips and her husband Jeff of West Ocean City, and sons; Joseph Sondheim Berney and his wife Kathleen Taylor Berney of Tuxedo and Carl Lewis Berney and his wife Charlotte Daigle Bernry of Santa Fe, N.M. 

There are four grandchildren; Walker Phillips, and Matthew, Samuel, and David Berney , and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving, is a sister, Adele Midwikis of Baton Rouge, LA and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother Bud Wightman and a sister Susan Calderwood.

Cremation followed her death. Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
