New Pocomoke teachers laud county strength

(April 6, 2017) Four teachers, who are new to Worcester County, presented school system strengths compared to their previous places of employment during the monthly school board meeting on March 21.
The teachers expressed how Worcester County fosters growth with high expectations and opportunities to do what is best for students.
In addition, administrative staff is always available and attentive to their needs by offering positive and productive feedback, they said.
Graduate school obligations are supported and professional development begins before the school year starts. All teachers meet with mentors, which are fellow teachers, to discuss concerns, receive feedback and offer support.
As new teachers to the county, they said they were impressed with the technology initiative and how professional development continues throughout the entire school year.
“As an art teacher, we sometimes feel like islands to the rest of the faculty,” Craig Copas said. “I have never felt so much support, from the abundance of supplies to the culture of art hanging on the walls.”
