Ocean Pines Briefs

(May 4, 2017) The Ocean Pines Association Board of Directors discussed the following items during a regular board meeting on Saturday:
North Gate
Director Cheryl Jacobs, following up on her comments during a board work session, asked if improvements were scheduled for the North Gate. Specifically, she asked about weeding, cleaning up trash and removing dead trees.
Hill said that item was moved up on the public works to-do list. He said the department had been overburdened and short-staffed, but promised the work would be done during the following week.
Mow go
The board voted 6-0 to approve a capital purchase request for a Triflex riding mower for use on Ocean Pines golf greens. The $19,999.02 contract was award to Finch Services Inc. from Westminster, Maryland.
Director Slobodan Trendic abstained from the vote.
Interim General Manager Brett Hill said the mower was recommended by Golf Superintendent Andre Jordan and Golf Director John Malinowski. The greens had been cut using a push mower, but Hill said the riding mower would greatly reduce labor costs.
Appointments
The board unanimously approved seven appointments to Ocean Pines advisory committees.
The candidate search committee was completely re-staffed, adding the five members required by Ocean Pines bylaws. They are: Thomas Piatti, Peggy Turner, Ken Koroknay, Catherine Gallagher and Kevin Mealia.
Two others, Jennifer Cropper-Rines and Elaine Brady, were approved for second terms on the search committee.
