OP website wins statewide PRSA excellence award

(Dec. 17, 2015) Ocean Pines took home another honor for its website during a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) event at the Hilton Baltimore on Dec. 1.
The association won an “award of excellence,” which was presented by the Maryland chapter of the society and judged by the Midwest chapter. Earlier this year, Ocean Pines won a “best website” award from the Maryland Parks and Recreation Association.
Marketing and Public Relations Director Teresa Travatello accepted the award on behalf of the association.
She helped develop the website with D3 Corp, using “feedback and focus groups from staff, residents, local Realtors and volunteers.”
Her department largely maintains the site.
“We were up against some good company,” she said. “About 140 people from some of the top marketing and communication and public relations agencies in the state.”
Ocean Pines was the only Worcester County-based contestant recipient recognized by the society.
“I am extremely honored to represent the association when receiving these types of awards,” Travatello said. “I think it’s important for us to be recognized for our efforts at the state level and to be able to compete with some of the top agencies in the field. The awards acknowledge our hard work and determination.”
Travatello said the award was not necessarily given for the design and programming aspects of the website, but rather for “the way we use the website as a public relations and marketing tool to enhance our communications.”
She added that “how we far we have come and how we got here” was part of the judging criteria, along with “planning, creativity, quality, technical and evaluation.”
