NEWARK – Patricia Mary Messick, age 77, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at her home in Newark. Born in Salisbury she was the daughter of the late William Tawes and Irene Causey Tawes. She is survived by her husband Arthur A. Messick.

Patricia was a member of Kingdom Hall in Berlin where she had special friends, Michael and Patty Fooks. She was a kind hearted person and was especially fond of her grandchildren.
Along with her husband she is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann Jarvis and her husband Glen, Christine Elaine Wells and Joanne Kathleen Brown; two brothers, Freddie Tawes and his wife Ethel Mae and Donnie Tawes and his wife Susie; one sister, Sandra Windsor and her husband Richard; 10 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her sons Arthur Ray Messick, and David Wayne Messick; a daughter, Cynthia Estelle Messick; and son-in-law, Dennis M. Wells Sr. She is also survived by many nieces nephews and a host of friends.
Services and Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
