Pocomoke High class of ‘16 graduates 82

(June 2, 2016) The Pocomoke High School auditorium was packed full of parents, relatives, siblings and well-wishers during Tuesday night’s celebration of the Class of 2016.
All told, 82 students — all of them with college acceptances, Principal Annette Wallace said — were handed diplomas, granted handshakes and hugs and emerged from the ranks of high schoolers.
Wallace said the class received about $800,000 in scholarships, or almost $10,000 each.
Graduating with highest honors were Maverick Kieu, Jaclyn Laman and Ethan Taylor, with greatest distinction were Jacobb Hardwick and Shayla Jones and with honors were Katlynne Tatterson and Tyler Nixon.
Jones and Laman were invited to speak in their roles of class president and National Honor Society president, respectively.
The guest speaker was Desmond Mackall, PHS class of 1996 student athlete who graduated cum laude, who is now employed as a staff developer for Montgomery County Public Schools.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jerry Wilson, other Board of Education officials and staff were also present during the ceremony.
