BERLIN – Robert Avery Fisher, age 80, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at his home in Berlin. Born in Greenbackville, Va., he was the son of the late William Adolf Fisher and Ruby Frances Kelly.
He was raised by his late grandparents, William Avery Kelley and Mattie Kelley. He is survived by his son Robert Avery Fisher Young and his wife Mary of Laurel, Del. He leaves two grandchildren, Robert Young, Jr. and April Young of Laurel Del.
He was a graduate of Ocean City High School, and worked as an assistant butcher at the American Store and Acme Store in Ocean City. He was a United States veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict. He obtained the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Fisher was better known as “Captain Bob Kelley,” a waterman and Captain on the Question Mark, a head boat out of Ocean City. He won first place for many years in the Boat Parade. He later acquired his own boat, the “Starfish,” a 63 foot head boat which he captained until his retirement in 1985.
A funeral service was held on April 5 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. The Rev. Alex Ayers officiated. Interment will be in Greenbackville Cemetery in Greenbackville, Va.
