Seaside Plumbing sets up new shop near ‘action’ in OP

(Nov. 5, 2015) Family owned and operated, Seaside Plumbing recently moved from a home office to a new headquarters on Friendship Road in Berlin.
Owner Josh Martin, who runs the company with his wife, described the business as “mom and pop.”
“We slowly, slowly grew until we finally outgrew out home office,” he said. “We also wanted to be closer to the action, because Ocean Pines is a huge amount of our work.”
Providing residential and light commercial services in the Maryland/Delaware area, the company is looking to grow its service calls on par with its remodeling and new construction work, Martin said.
He said the company has worked with notable local builders including T & G Builders Inc. from Ocean City, Miken Builders Inc. from Bethany Beach and Boardwalk Builders Inc. from Rehoboth Beach.
“We really haven’t been pushing service as much,” he said, adding that service calls generally include leaky faucets, clogged drainpipes and broken toilets. “We just want to remind the community we’re here for them and that we do field service calls.”
Seaside boasts a sewer camera and inspection system that allows plumbers to analyze problems using high definition video, as well as other technology that lets workers pinpoint the exact location of clogs.
For the customer, that means quicker solutions and less digging in the yard.
“It seems like a simple thing, but not a lot of plumbing contractors have it,” Martin said.
Martin said this is the time of year property owners should be thinking about winterizing – especially those who operate seasonal rentals or plan on being on vacation for an extended period of time.
He remembers getting a service call in Ocean Pines with water pouring out the front door.
“The owner was out of town for the season and decided not to have his home winterized,” he said. “The damage was extensive and the home was practically destroyed.
“We highly recommend that you shut your water main off when you leave your home for any extended periods of time, and also winterize your home,” Martin added. “A few dollars spent on a winterization will end up saving you tons of money in the long run.”
Seaside is also active in the community with groups such as the Maryland chapter of Contractors for a Cause, a nonprofit based in Worcester County that helps provide handicapped access to wounded veterans.
“That’s a great organization,” Martin said. “It’s such a small community and it’s such a tightknit group that we all really have to take care of each other.”
