(May 4, 2017) Christopher Cuono, 44, of Accomack County, Virginia died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 20, according to a press release from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.
Police had attempted to serve an arrest warrant for alleged sexual assaults at about 2 p.m. that day at Cuono’s residence in the Newtowne Apartments on Market Street in Pocomoke.
The Sheriff’s Office said Pocomoke officers requested assistance from their office and the Maryland State Police to help secure the area and gain safe entry into the apartment to take Cuono into custody.
After obtaining a search warrant, police said the Sheriff’s Tactical Team entered the unit only to discover Cuono was deceased from a gunshot wound. Police found Cuono lying on a bed with a handgun on his chest.
The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
