Virginia B. Nelson

SNOW HILL– Virginia Belote Nelson, age 94, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Harrison Senior Living in Snow Hill. Born in Rehoboth, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Belote and Mary Merrill Belote. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Charles Wesley Nelson, Jr., a son, Richard E. Nelson and his wife Maggie of Naperville, IL, and a daughter Barbara Nelson of Snow Hill. There are two grandchildren, Timothy Charles Nelson, and his wife Sharon of Chicago, and Elizabeth Anne Nelson of Naperville, IL, and great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Nelson of Chicago. Also surviving is a brother L. Everett Belote of Galesburg, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers; The Rev, Francis Belote and Merrill Belote, and sister, May Belote Beech.

Mrs. Nelson had been employed with Worcester County for many years. She worked in licensing with the Liquor Control Board and also in the County Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of Makemie  Presbyterian Church, Nassawango Country Club, Julia A. Purnell volunteer, Peninsula Regional Medical Center Volunteer for over 25 years, and was an avid bridge enthusiast.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Makemie Presbyterian Church in Snow Hill. Friends may call on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Burbage Funeral Home in Snow Hill. Interment will be at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
