W.C.H.S. offers lower adoption fee during ‘Cat Days’ promotion

(Aug. 20, 2015) “The Cat Days of Summer” are winding down at the Worcester County Humane Society but there is still time to take advantage of the discounted adoption fee of $75 for cats and kittens. The discounted adoption fee will continue until Labor Day and includes spay/neuter, immunizations, microchip and fecal exam.
“There is no better time than now to adopt from the shelter as it is currently filled to capacity with cats and kittens” said Ashley Brown, WCHS adoption coordinator. “During the month of July there were over 50 kittens brought into the shelter bringing the total number of cats and kittens living here to over 150.”
Throughout the summer the shelter has been holding adoption events, “The Cat Days of Summer,” at Walmart in Berlin. There will be one more summer adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be some additional Saturdays in the fall–Sept. 12, 19 and Oct. 10.
There will be cats available for adoption at every event along with baked goods for purchase and raffle tickets with the chance to win three cash prizes.
If interested in adopting a cat or kitten come on out to the “Cat Days of Summer” event. Cats from the shelter are also at Petco and OC Pet Spa both in West Ocean City, and visitors are welcome at the shelter during regular business hours. Adoptions are based on application approval. The shelter also has a senior-to-senior program where any person over the age of 65 adopting a cat over the age of 8 will have their adoption fee waived.
The Worcester County Humane Society is a private, non-profit, no kill animal shelter located on Eagle’s Nest Road just off Stephen Decatur Highway. The shelter is open 11a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Wednesdays and Sundays.
