A Little Bit Sheepish owner to retire next month after being impacted by covid

(June 18, 2020) A Little Bit Sheepish on South Main Street in Berlin is having a storewide sale after owner Brenda Trice announced the yarn shop would be closing on July 15.

Trice made the announcement that she was going out of business on Facebook on May 31.

Brenda Trice, owner of A Little Bit Sheepish in Berlin, has decided to retire and close her yarn store on Main Street.

“I had planned on retiring next year anyway,” Trice said. “I’ll be 65 next summer, and I decided just to go ahead after having been closed for covid.”

A Little Bit Sheepish opened in November 2012 and relocated to 1 S. Main Street about a year and a half ago.

“[If] I had the energy or the time to wait, I would have looked for someone to purchase the business,” Trice said.

Trice added that business has been steady since June 1 after being closed for several months because of the state’s health-safety restrictions.

Now, masks are required to enter the store and purchases are contactless to limit exposure.

A Little Bit Sheepish is selling yarn, needles, hooks, notions, patterns and the models.

“[The models] are never for sale, so … even if you’re not a knitter or a crocheter, you might be interested in coming in and purchasing a handmade garment or accessory,” Trice said.

There is still a large selection of yarn available.

Currently, the storewide sale is 40 percent off.

Although it is bittersweet to leave the business, Trice said she looks forward to more time with her 13 grandchildren and her retirement in Berlin.

“It’s a really wonderful community to run a business in and to be a part of,” Trice said. “I have enjoyed the time that I’ve had here, and it’s been really easy to work with the townspeople, so that part is really sad for me.”

A Little Bit Sheepish is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
